How You Can Help

KEEP USING THE QUAY
We can help you moor at the quay, with a little notice.
Call 01206 392 821.

FUNDING
We aim to win 'the battle of the fence' and are pursuing legal action to have your public rights of access to the quay recognised in law. To pay for this we have established a fighting fund. If you can make a contribution, however great or small, we will be that much closer to freeing the quay. Please send whatever you can afford to: Free the Quay, Mistley, PO Box 10367, Manningtree Essex CO11 9AA. Make cheques out to 'Free the Quay'. There are fundraising jars at The Thorn pub in Mistley and Lucca Enoteca Italian restaurant in Manningtree.

FUNDRAISING

A big thankyou is due to all who have helped raise funds and joined in our events (particularly to the Men and Women of Mistley, who got naked for our sell-out calendars!) . More events, happenings, gift items etc are planned over the coming months to help raise funding. If you feel you can help, or have any ideas for events, or skills that might come in useful, please contact us on  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. SPREAD THE WORD
Let as many people as possible know about the Free the Quay and how the fence has blocked public access to the quay.
Tell people about

GALLERY
We want your images and memories of the quay. Send them to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). We can upload your images onto our pictures page.

PRESSURE
Come down to the quay to sign our petition (now hundreds of signatures strong) and tie a ribbon or flowers onto the fence to register your protest (but please keep the peace, and respect the privacy of those who live there).

Hundreds of letters have already been written to our local councillors, who are supposed to represent and support us when private companies obstruct the rights of the public. Write to your local councillor, MP, Tendring District Council and Essex County Council urging them to act to reverse this act of industrial vandalism.
